Glossary of Terms

Casi Rusco CX Series Proxlite is a proximity card format developed by GE Security which operates on a 125 kHz frequency. Cards of this type are for use only with Casi Rusco readers and Casi Rusco-compatible readers. Contact us for the rf IDEAS WAVE ID reader.

EM4102 is a proximity card format developed by EM Microelectronic Marin. EM4102 cards operate on a frequency of 125 kHz. Cards of this type are for use only with EM Microelectronic Marin readers and EM Microelectronic Marin-compatible readers (such as the appropriate models from the rf IDEAS WAVE ID range).

HID Prox is a proximity card format developed by HID Corp. HID Prox cards operate on a frequency of 125 kHz. Cards of this type are for use only with HID readers and HID-compatible readers (such as the appropriate models from the rf IDEAS WAVE ID range) designed to read 125 kHz cards.

HID iCLASS is a proximity card format developed by HID Corp. HID iCLASS cards operate on a frequency of 13.56 MHz. Cards of this type are for use only with HID readers and HID-compatible readers (such as the appropriate models from the rf IDEAS AIR-ID range) designed to read 13.56 MHz cards.

Indala Prox is a proximity card format developed by HID Corp (formerly Indala, which HID Corp took over). Indala Prox cards operate on a frequency of 125 kHz. Cards of this type are for use only with Indala readers and Indala-compatible readers (such as the appropriate models from the rf IDEAS WAVE ID range) designed to read 125 kHz cards. Note that Indala cards are available both in open and custom format.

MIFARE is a proximity card format developed by NXP. MIFARE cards operate on a frequency of 13.56 MHz. Cards of this type are for use only with proximity readers which can handle the MIFARE format.

MIFARE Classic EV1 cards store 1k of information divided into 16 sectors of 4 blocks (each block contains 16 bytes). The last block of each sector is used to store the access keys and conditions; also the first block of sector 0 (the sectors are numbered 0 to 15 and the blocks 0 to 3) is used to store the card serial number (CSN) and other identifying information. Therefore, the amount of space used to store application data is in practice 752 bytes.

MIFARE Classic 4k cards store 4k of information divided into 40 sectors; the first 32 are of 4 blocks, while the last 8 are of 16 blocks. As with the 1k card, the last block of each sector is used for access control, while the first block of sector 0 is for the CSN. The amount of space available in practice on the card is 3440 bytes.

SLE4404 is a contact card format developed by Infineon. Cards of this type are for use only with contact readers which can handle the SLE4404 format.

SLE4442 is a contact card format developed by Infineon. Cards of this type are for use only with contact readers which can handle the SLE4442 format.
