What is OSDP?\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP\u2122) refers to an access control communications standard developed by the Security Industry Association (SIA). It was created to improve interoperability among access control and security products.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

OSM-1000, OSDP – Wiegand Converter<\/b><\/h2>\n

The OSM- 1000, OSDP – Wiegand Converter is a general-purpose OSDP converter. It has two operating modes – PD mode and ACU. The OSM unit connects the Wiegand reader to an OSDP ACU in PD mode.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the OSM unit connects an OSDP reader to the traditional Wiegand Access Controller in ACU mode. In addition, you can use two OSM-100 units together. You can use one in ACU mode whilst the other in PD mode to connect a Wiegand reader to a Wiegand Access Controller with an OSDP connection.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

OSM-CPI<\/b><\/h2>\n

OSM-CPI is an OSDP-Wiegand control panel interface which connects an OSDP reader with a Wiegand panel.<\/span><\/p>\n

It can be set to Peripheral Device Mode and can configure with any standard OSDP configuration tool. There are also configuration modes for pairing with a Peripheral Device and resetting to Default parameters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

OSM-CPI has inputs for controlling the Peripheral Device\u2019s LED and buzzer. Additionally, there is also a tamper output on the OSM-CPI. This is useful in the event of communication loss with the Peripheral Device.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why Adopt OSDP?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

OSDP is already in use widely by many different leading manufacturers such as Cypress, HID Global and Mercury. The Security Industry Association encourages adopting this standard and recommends specifying OSDP for any access control installations requiring high-level security.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
